Technical principle of biomass briquettes making

The core technology of biomass rod making is to change the original loose structure of biomass raw materials through physical extrusion and other methods, so that it can be formed into fuel rods with higher density and strength under certain pressure and temperature conditions. In this process, the bio-briquettes making machine plays a key role. It uses mechanical structures such as spiral propulsion to apply continuous pressure to the pre-treated biomass raw materials that meet the process requirements, so that the lignin and other components in the raw materials are softened and bonded under high temperature and high pressure, and finally form a regular fuel rod shape.

1. Raw material collection and screening

Almost all biomass can serve as raw materials for biomass rod making. However, we should fully consider the advantages of our own region and try to select raw materials that are abundant in local production, stable in supply, easy to obtain and convenient to transport. In this way, the cost of raw materials can be effectively reduced, and more substantial profits can be obtained.

  • Corn stalks, wheat stalks, rice stalks, etc. are common raw materials for biomass rod making. Through the biomass rod making production line, waste is turned into treasure and converted into valuable biomass fuel rods;
  • Pruned branches and treetops, wood chips and wood chips produced by logging, and sawdust left over from forestry processing can be used as high-quality raw materials for biomass rod making after proper treatment;
  • Bagasse, fruit shells, walnut shells, coconut shells, etc. are rich in lignin and other ingredients, suitable for processing into biomass fuel rods, and have high utilization value.
  • Animal manure, such as cow dung and sheep dung, which has been pre-treated by drying and deodorization, can also be used as raw materials for biomass rod making.

2. Raw material pretreatment

The pretreatment stage is crucial(relevant to whether the briquettes is successful), mainly including operations such as crushing and drying. Crushing is to use a crusher to break large pieces of biomass raw materials into suitable particle sizes (generally requiring the raw material particle size to be less than 5mm); drying is to control the moisture content of the raw materials, generally requiring the moisture content to be between 8% and 12%.

3. Briquettes making

The pretreated raw materials enter the rod making machine, where they are extruded and formed according to the set process parameters such as pressure, temperature, and propulsion speed. This link requires precise control of various parameters to produce biomass fuel rods with uniform density and qualified strength. 4 Carbonization (if your finished product is charcoal briquettes)

After the semi-finished biomass briquettes is treated with a sealed carbonization furnace, the carbonization process is completed through a 200-700°C gradient temperature control system under hypoxia or oxygen-limiting conditions, and undergoes three stages: material drying, pyrolysis and deep carbonization. Based on capacity planning, it can be adapted to hoisted continuous carbonization furnace or underground kiln carbonization system.
