The plant processes mixed hardwoods and softwoods:

“We use everything—branches, stumps, even sawmill leftovers,” says plant manager Alexei Volkov. “If it’s woody, we briquette it.”
The Nuts and Bolts: Crush, Dry, Briquettes
1. Crushing
A 150kg/h blade crusher shreds logs up to 20cm thick into uniform sawdust. No chainsaws needed—this beast eats whole branches.
2. Sifting
A rotary sifter filters out bark chunks and debris. “Clean sawdust burns cleaner,” explains Volkov.
3. Drying
A triple-pass drum dryer reduces moisture from 45% to 12%—critical for binding.
4. Briquetting
A screw briquetting machine with dual heating rings. It compresses sawdust into 6cm hexagonal blocks at 300kg/h. “We tried cheaper piston models,” admits Volkov. “But screws handle our mix of pine and hardwoods better.”
